Groupage

Road transport where several shipments from different customers share the same truck.

Also: LTL · Consolidation

In groupage the operator collects small shipments from several customers, consolidates them at a hub and loads them onto one truck towards a destination area, where they are distributed again. The customer pays a proportional share of the vehicle.

It is priced per pallet, per loading metre or by weight with a density convention, and the price grows in steps. There is more handling than in a full load, so packaging and labelling matter more, and transit times are less precise.
